There is no shortage of things to do this weekend in Sarasota, for everyone in the family! The cooler weather offers some great opportunities for outdoor events and there are many to check out in this beautiful city.
As you make your plans for this weekend, remember to dress for the cooler temperatures and, as always, check ahead in case of unforeseen closures. Social distancing and masks are still recommended, especially for crowded indoor events. Whatever your plans, stay safe and enjoy all your weekend events as 2021 comes to a close!
Friday-Saturday, November 5th and 6th: Festival of the Skeletons Artwalk
Halloween might be behind us, but you can still enjoy some spooky fun and amazing art at this weekend’s Festival of the Skeletons Artwalk. Held in nearby Bradenton at the Village of the Arts, the annual Festival of Skeletons is held in conjunction with Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead.
Despite its name, the Day of the Dead is actually a celebration of life! The holiday is meant to honor those who have passed away and reunite the dead with the living. Traditionally, families might create altars to dead loved ones and offer prayers of remembrance for those who have died.
The Festival of Skeletons Artwalk is a great chance to enjoy a wide range of creations from a number of local artists. The Village of the Arts includes lots of quaint shops, eateries, and even a few spas, so you’re sure to find something you love during this weekend’s festival. Held both Friday and Saturday, you can find out more about the event and the Village itself at their website or Facebook events page:
