Thursday through Sunday, August 26th through 29th: Sarasota Salsa & Bachata Festival 2021
If you want to get your weekend started a bit early and feel like hitting the dance floor as well, check out the 2021 Sarasota Salsa and Bachata Festival, scheduled for Thursday through Sunday at the Hyatt Regency. This weekend’s festival includes four full days of dancing, live music, workshops, and much more!
Salsa and bachata are fun and exciting forms of dance, sure to get your heart rate going and your blood pumping, making them excellent exercise as well as entertainment. Saturday, August 28th: Hedwig and the Angry Inch
If you’re looking for more mature things to do in Sarasota at night, check out Hedwig and the Angry Inch, the off-Broadway production of the German rock and roller Hedwig Schmidt. This show offers a blend of standup comedy and musical numbers, backed by the rock band The Angry Inch.

Friday and Saturday, August 27th and 28th: Let’s Create Art
If the kids need something to do this weekend and you need a few hours of alone time, check out Let’s Create Art, hosted by Creative Arts Studio. This fun class, held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday night, allows you to drop off the kids and let them enjoy a few hours of creativity and fun.

Friday, August 27th: Singles 80s Night
If you’re single and want to meet other singles while enjoying some fun, retro things to do this weekend in Sarasota, pull out your best acid washed jeans, feather your hair, and head down to the Singles 80s Night at Tea Days, this Friday from 7:30 to 10 p.m. You can enjoy karaoke, games, giveaways, and other fun in a great theme that is sure to bring back memories of the 80s and beyond.

Saturday, August 28th: Lance’s Cruzin to the Hop Car Show
For even more retro things to do this weekend in Sarasota, check out Lance’s Cruzin to the Hop Car Show, this Saturday the 28th starting at 9 a.m., at Sommers Dutch Family Restaurant in Sarasota. The show will feature a wide range of classic cars as well as 50s and 60s music, giveaways, live music, and more.

August 29th: Mellow Mushroom Market
There’s no better way to enjoy the weekend than with a bit of shopping! You can find a wide variety of handmade jewelry, clothes, and items for the home at this weekend’s Mellow Mushroom Market, Sunday the 29th, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sunday, August 29th: Brews and Blues
If you love blues music and cold brews, check out Brews and Blues at the Big Top Brewing Company this Sunday, August 29th. You can enjoy the music of RJ Howson and Mike Kach, two favorite blues players with a long roster of cover music you’re sure to love.

Saturday, August 28th: Zumba at the Park
There are lots of fitness-related Sarasota events in 2021, including Zumba at the Park, this Saturday the 28th. Zumba is a great way to get the blood flowing and burn some calories, and the outdoor setting for this class also means getting lots of fresh air while you follow the instructor!
